Spingers running the Dee

May has finally arrived and we are now starting to see some better runs of salmon on the upper Dee. After what has been a long wintery spring the weather has finally warmed up, the birch trees are in leaf, the sand martins and swallows have never been busier and the fresh spring salmon are running. It really is a fantastic time of the year to be out on the river and enjoy all the nature salmon fishing offers.

River temperatures are above 50 degrees, and we have caught and released two fish now on full floating lines and small flies. These tactics is what the Dee is famous for and May is a fantastic time of the year to fish this style for fit silver spring salmon.

Here is a clip of a few salmon running the Dinnet beat on the upper Dee.
